China's first International Consumer Products Expo on Hainan will receive a range of exhibits from the European Union thanks to a new transcontinental cargo route from Paris, announced the island administration.
According to the official website of the provincial party committee's propaganda department on WeChat, the delivery will be carried out by Hainan Airlines. Its planes will now begin transporting high-demand goods in both directions on a regular basis and are expected to allow European exhibitors to address the challenges of transporting samples and exhibition equipment.
Earlier, HNA Cargo, the logistics subsidiary of the group represented by Hainan Airlines, signed an agreement with the French firm Dynamic Parcel Distribution (a subsidiary of the postal conglomerate La Poste) to promote cooperation in the field of duty free air transportation and cross-border e-commerce.
In accordance with the agreement, the Boeing 787-900 will fly between the administrative center of Hainan, Haikou, and the French capital twice a week. The first flight was successfully carried out on March 27: the southernmost province of China delivered 35 tonnes of various cargoes to Paris, which took 13 hours to transport.
The first China International Consumer Products Expo will be held on May 7-10 in Haikou, and will be attended by 630 overseas companies from 69 countries. This event is one of the measures for the implementation of the General Development Program of Hainan's free trade port, which was published on June 1, 2020 by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the State Council. The fair will be held at the International Exhibition Center, the exposition area will reach 80,000 square meters.
