CHINA. China Duty Free Group (CDFG) has underlined its commitment to Hainan’s booming offshore duty free sector with a wholehearted pledge of support for the first China International Consumer Products Expo to be held on the island province on 7-10 May.
CDFG plans to bring management and procurement teams from 200 stores across China to the event, which is being organised by Hainan International Economic Development Bureau.
CDFG’s commitment follows a meeting in Beijing on 8 January between Hainan International Economic Development Bureau (Hainan IEDB) Director General Han Shengjian and China Duty Free (Group) Co. Ltd. (CDFG) Chairman Peng Hui to discuss a “comprehensive cooperation” for the inaugural Consumer Expo.
CDFG said that its large Expo delegation will communicate with global brands that are exhibiting and actively carry out product procurement.

Director General Han Shengjian said that the pioneering China International Consumer Products Expo will be themed “Opening up China and Hainan first”. This positioning, combined with Hainan’s status as an international tourism consumption centre, will create an important national-level exhibition for international brands, accelerate the repatriation of overseas consumption by Chinese citizens, and drive the upgrading of domestic retail, he pledged.
