The third China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE, also known as the Hainan Expo) will be held in Haikou—the capital city of China’s southern Hainan Province, from April 11-15, according to a press conference held on Thursday.

According to Ji Guohui, Deputy Director of the Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development, a number of global brands have already signed up for this year’s event, which features a 10,000 square meters of exhibition space (80,000 square meters for international brands and 20,000 square meters for Chinese brands).

The Expo will showcase even more leading brands from around the world this year, including the Volkswagen Group (headquartered in Germany, it is one of the world’s top multinational auto corporations), the Hugo Boss Group (one of the largest German luxury fashion companies), Karcher (a German front-runner in cleaning equipment solutions), the Singaporean Raffles Medical Group, and many more brands which will be making their debuts at this year’s event.

In addition to exhibitors from France, Germany, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) agreement member countries, Italy, Spain, and Poland will participate in the Expo for the first time, with Italy slated to be this year's guest of honor.

During the Expo, high-end products from popular Chinese brands, including Jingdezhen Porcelain, Laofengxiang, Bloomage Biotech, iFLYTEK, Pien Tze Huang, Pop Mart, and more will all be on display.

Meanwhile, this year’s Expo will also include a broader array of product categories including premium water sports, camping, and flight tourism products.

At the press conference, representatives from many participating exhibitors also expressed their optimism about the upcoming event.

“Autos have always been a focal point at this kind of exhibition,” said Ye Jun, a Senior Director of Government Affairs at Volkswagen Group (China), a new face at the event this year. “We will make the most of the opportunity to showcase our high-end auto models including Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, and more.”

According to Hou Xiaofeng, Senior Director of the China Travel Retail Division of the Tapestry Group (Hainan)—a modern luxury lifestyle brand that has participated in the previous two Hainan Expos—they have been pushing forward cooperation with Hainan by opening a China Travel Retail headquarters and several new stores on the island last year. Seeing the improvement of the regulatory system as well as the overall business environment in the province, Tapestry is confident about the company’s future development on the free trade island.
