Located in the Yangpu area of Danzhou—a northwestern city in China's island province of Hainan, the Hainan Crude Oil Refining Terminal welcomed a 300,000 ton-supertanker from Liberia on January 29, which entered the port for import inspection.

“The hourly berthing fees for this giant oil tanker are over $80,000,” said an official at the Yangpu Entry and Exit Border Inspection Station. Thanks to the station’s advanced declaration service on an online one-stop international trade system, after confirming the tanker’s declaration information, the station was able to complete the ship’s import inspection in only 15 minutes.

“The highly efficient inspection procedure at the terminal has significantly reduced our waiting times and lowered our operating costs, saving us more than $2.4 million every year,” said a public service department secretary at the terminal.

In 2022 alone, a total of around 4,800 ships underwent border inspection at the terminal, a year-on-year increase of 8.5%.
