Luxury travel retailer DFS is to attend the first ever China International Consumer Products Expo in Hainan as it looks to demonstrate its commitment to the market.

The first China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), held in Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province, ended its four-day run today. More than 648 international companies exhibited more than 1,300 brands and attracted more than 30,000 buyers and professional visitors over the course of the event.

With the acceleration of the construction of Hainan FTP, Hainan is planning to build a globally influential consumer boutique center in Haikou to enhance the effect of the Consumer Expo, give full play to the policy advantages of the FTP as well as its unique geographical and business advantages to realize its goal “buy globally and sell globally”.

As the pace of development of the Hainan Free Trade Port continues to accelerate, Hainan is experiencing an investment boom.

The first International Consumer Products Expo will be held from May 7-10 in South China's Hainan Province, with about 630 foreign companies from 69 countries and regions participating, a move that analysts said highlights the country's further opening-up despite tense relations with the US and some of its allies.

The US National Basketball Association (NBA) is expected to participate in the maiden China International Consumer Products Expo, the expo organizers said on Saturday
